A huge congratulations to Sree (Hampden 13) on winning the national ITZA ‘Mission to Mars’ competition with his innovative design for a sustainable Martian habitat.
Sree was one of just three students from across the UK selected to attend the 2026 The Villars Institute Symposium in Switzerland on an all-expenses-paid trip, where he became a lifelong Fellow of the Villars Institute.
The experience gave Sree the opportunity to meet leading thinkers and like-minded students from around the world, while developing his confidence, creativity and leadership skills.
Reflecting on his experience, Sree said: “Never think that something is too far out of reach for you.”
An incredible achievement and a fantastic example of where curiosity, ambition and a willingness to take on a challenge can lead.

158 years ago Quainton Road was opened by the Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway under pressure from the 3rd Duke of Buckingham, to serve his nearby home Wotton House. It became the junction station for the Brill (or Wotton) Tramway built by the Duke in 1871 for goods traffic to his estate, with passenger services commencing the following year. The route was absorbed by the Metropolitan Railway in 1891 which was in turn absorbed by London Transport in 1933 resulting in London Underground trains serving this distant outpost until 1936, when the Metropolitan Line was cut back to Aylesbury (the Brill Tramway was also operated by London Transport, and had closed in 1935). I snapped this on a Branch Line Society railtour in 2018, I recall it started from Aylesbury with this special Chiltern service dropping us at Quainton Road to enjoy the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre before then taking us to Calvert waste terminal, beyond to the curve to Claydon LNE Junction and eventually back to Paddington via the Birmingham Direct Line through Greenford. Lots of track no longer available, all thanks to HS2 construction.

Yesterday, we hosted Aston Manor’s first ever Menu Tasting event, inviting residents, friends and family to join us in tasting a bespoke four-week Autumn and Winter menu prepared by our Head Chef, Luci, and Sous Chef, Tony! 🧡
Our chefs created the new menu with ideas and feedback from our residents throughout the process. We want our dishes to be fresh, seasonal, delicious and nutritious, so listening to what our residents enjoy is an important part of creating our menus.
It quickly became clear that our residents have quite the sweet tooth, with the pecan chocolate chip brownie and mango mousse proving firm favourites, with the lamb hot pot also being a big hit.
A huge thank you to Luci, Tony and the whole team for all their hard work in putting together such a fantastic spread! 🧡

We’re delighted to have awarded £1500 to Inspire Bucks through the Aylesbury Town Council Grants Committee. 💙
This grant contributed towards their 'Inspire a Safe Place' project, creating a comfortable environment where social workers and young adults and families can meet.
Inspire Bucks also does a variety of other projects such as a Christmas toy appeal under the 'Inspire a Smile' project, and 'Inspire for Life', a small grant for care leavers helping them get a good start in life as they leave care ✨️.
We’re proud to support the organisations who make such a positive difference to Aylesbury and it's future.

Yesterday (22/9) officers from the Proactive Team executed a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a residential property on Barnard Crescent, Aylesbury.
Despite an attempt to dispose of the drugs down the toilet. It didn’t quite go to plan. 🚽
A 27-year-old man from Aylesbury was arrested on suspicion of:
➡️ Possessing a Class A controlled drug — cocaine — with intent to supply.
➡️ Acquiring, using or possessing criminal property, namely cash.
He remains in custody.

Our first-ever Race Across Aylesbury took place on Saturday, and what an incredible day it was! 💚
We were thrilled to welcome 48 enthusiastic teams, who raced around Aylesbury, solving clues, puzzles and challenges at some of the town’s well-known landmarks and in local businesses that generously got involved.
🏆 A huge congratulations to our winners, ‘Dance Mums and a Dad’!
And, of course, a massive well done to everyone who took part. You brought so much energy, excitement and fun to the town centre, creating a fantastic buzz throughout the day and, most importantly, raised vital funds for local hospice care.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to all the local businesses who supported the event, whether by welcoming teams, hosting challenges, donating raffle prizes or providing clues. Your support helped make the day so special. 🩷

What a lovely way to spend a Monday morning!
I was back with some incredible mums and gorgeous babies at the Aylesbury PANDAS regular drop-in session.
PANDAS provides a safe and welcoming space for mums to come and chat about mental health or whatever is on their minds. We talked about how some of the mums are doing but also the critical national issue of insufficient and patchy mental health support for pregnant and new mums, which I continue to push in Parliament.

SLEEP OUT TO HELP OUT
Aylesbury community sleeps out under the stars to raise over £16,000 for local homelessness charity.
43 people from across Aylesbury and the surrounding area spent last Friday night sleeping outside at The Stables, Waddesdon Manor, raising over £16,000 for Aylesbury Homeless Action Group (AHAG) — funds that will go directly towards supporting local people facing homelessness, during an evening that was as cold as it was memorable.
A Night for Change, the first event of this kind for the charity, held on 11 September in partnership with The Rothschild Foundation, brought together community supporters of all ages for an overnight experience, designed not to replicate homelessness, but to stand in solidarity with those who have no choice but to face it.
Participants built their own shelters from cardboard and basic materials, ate jacket potatoes around a fire, took part in team challenges, heard real stories from people AHAG have supported, told by the staff who know them. Then they slept out under what turned out to be a stunning, clear September sky. Many participants reported being kept awake not by the cold, but by the sounds of the animals roaming Waddesdon's surrounding parkland and woods.
One young participant wrote the following morning: "I now understand that homelessness is much more than simply seeing people sleeping on the street" — words echoed by many written on the morning reflection cards collected at sunrise.
The response from those who took part was extraordinary. Participants spoke of "strangers coming together and forming a sense of community", of a "thoughtful blend of activities, reflection and socialising", and of being genuinely moved by the real-life stories shared by AHAG staff. One attendee described it simply as "a night of moments, connections and the elements."
For AHAG, whose services are currently under greater pressure than at any point in the organisation's history, the night was about far more than the money raised.
Ruth Mayhew, Fundraising Officer at AHAG, said: "What happened last Friday night was something really special. People who had never met before built shelters together, shared stories and sat under the stars and asked themselves hard questions which we usually avoid, such as what really causes homelessness and what is the best thing to do to help?”
