Have Your Say: Lidl Unveils Major Plans for Aylesbury Supermarket and 54 Homes

Discount supermarket giant Lidl is calling on residents to share their views on an ambitious new development slated for South Aylesbury, which includes a brand-new store and up to 54 new homes.

The proposed site, located on land off Lower Road, promises a multi-million-pound investment into the local area and the creation of up to 40 new jobs. Lidl GB has stated that the development is designed to cater to shoppers in the southern part of town who currently have to travel across Aylesbury to access discount groceries.

If approved, the store will feature a 1,308sqm sales floor, an in-store bakery, and the famous “Middle of Lidl” aisle. The retailer is also pushing an eco-friendly angle, noting that the building will be equipped with air source heat pumps, heat recovery systems, and rooftop solar panels expected to generate roughly 25% of the store’s energy. The site will also feature 123 parking spaces, complete with accessible bays and EV charging points.

Alongside the supermarket, the retailer is seeking outline planning permission for 54 homes, promising a mixed-use boost to the area. A public consultation is currently open as Lidl seeks community feedback before submitting a formal planning application.
